Late Miocene about about 8-9 million years ago, the only panda began to appear on Earth. Subsequently, in the early Pleistocene, began to appear in small species of giant pandas, whose fossils were found in Guangxi柳城, Guangdong Luoding, Wushan County, Sichuan, Shaanxi and Yunnan Yangxian Yuanmou and other places. To the middle and late Pleistocene, the development of giant pandas to its heyday, the giant panda sub-species Pap emerged and is widely distributed in southwest China, South China, Central China, North China and Northwest 16 provinces and municipalities - Beijing Zhoukoudian, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Henan , Anhui, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian, Taiwan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan, Hubei, Guizhou, Sichuan, Yunnan, as well as abroad in northern Vietnam and Myanmar.
